“No protection”

: The project file is not protected from unauthorized access and data manipulation.

Note: We strongly recommend that you use a security feature.

: The “Password”, “Dongle”, and “Certificates” options cannot be selected.

“Integrity check”

When you create a new project, this option is enabled by default.

: The project file is stored in a proprietary format and its integrity is checked each time the project is loaded. The file may be incompatible with older versions of the development system.

Note that the project file is not encrypted. To better protect your data, activate one of the encryption functions.

: The “Password”, “Dongle”, and “Certificates” encryption functions can be selected.

When you save the project with these settings, you have to specify the password later in order to open the project again, even if it is to be loaded as a library reference.

Requirement: You have connected the CODESYS security key (dongle) to the computer.

“Add”: The “Add Registered Dongle” dialog opens.

“Certificates”

Certificates are used to encrypt the contents of the open project file.

Requirement: The certificates for all users who share the project have to be installed in the local memory.
