For the PLC configurations that reach the performance limitations of the selected CPU type, there are certain settings and parameters to consider to optimize the performance. By considering this, typically a reduction of the load can be achieved.

In the “PLC settings” tab set the “Always update” variable setting to “Disabled”. ⮫ “Tab: PLC Settings ”

Pay special attention to the following:

Increase of the “Update cycle time” in SM560.

I/O update task (including cycle time).

Task cycle time.

Use the right communication schema.

Minimize the use of retain variables (or access to retain variables).

Check if the tag update rate fits to the application e.g. temperature values update each few seconds/minutes instead of each few milliseconds.
