PROFINET (Process Field Network) is an industrial Ethernet standard widely used in the field of manufacturing and process automation. It is managed by the user organization PI (PROFIBUS&PROFINET International) and is considered the successor of PROFIBUS (see ‎⮫ https://www.profibus.com/).

AC500-eCo V3 PLCs can be operated as IO controller or IO device via the onboard PROFINET interface. How this can be configured in Automation Builder is described in two projects in an ‎⮫ application example.
