IO Controller – General Permalink

Objekt: PROFINET IO Controller

The PROFINET IO controller, like the slaves, is identified by its station name. For AC500 communication modules, the IP settings can also bre configured here. Otherwise, the settings are inherited from the superordinate Ethernet node.

“Station name”

Station name of the device. Used to uniquely identify the device in the network.

Table 485: IP Parameters

“IP address”

Note: Available for AC500 communication module only.

If the controller is inserted below an Ethernet adapter, the IP parameters must be configured in the Ethernet adapter dialog.

“Subnet mask”

The subnet mask used by the device.

“Default gateway”

The default gateway used by the device.

Table 486: Default Slave IP Parameter

“First IP address”

Range of IP addresses used by CODESYS by default when PROFINET devices are inserted into the device tree. If you use the “Auto-IP” function in the scan dialog, then IP addresses are also used from this range. The next free IP address is selected here.

“Last IP address”

“Subnet mask”

Subnet mask for newly added PROFINET devices.

“Default gateway”

Default gateway for newly added PROFINET devices.

Table 487: IO Provider / Consumer Status

“Application stop –> Substitute values”

When the application is stopped, the provider status for output data sent by the controller is set to "BAD". The slaves then switch inputs and outputs to predefined substitute values. For more information, see “CODESYS Default values – PROFINET Substitute values” at the end of this chapter.

“Add to I/O mapping”

_cds_icon_option_activated_copy.png: Adds the status information to the I/O mapping for all modules. Provider status is added for input data, and consumer status is added for output data.

“Substitute Input-Data”

  • “Zero”

  • “Last valid value”

If a device does not provide valid input data, the values (%I) in the local controller application can either be reset or retain their last valid value.

Table 488: Port Data

“Peer station/port”

Neighboring device with port that is connected to this port.

This setting can be applied from the “ PROFINET Controller Topology” tab.

“Check cable length”

Length of the network cable (in meters)

  • < 10

  • < 25

  • < 50

  • < 100

If a cable length is specified, it is verified during controller startup. An incorrect cable length results in an error message.

“Transmission rate”

Transmission rate of the connection.

“Disable fixed rate / autonegotiation”

_cds_icon_option_activated.png: The transmission rate is fixed, automatic detection (autonegotiation) is disabled.

“DCP Boundary”

_cds_icon_option_activated.png: DCP multicast messages (‎Identify‎, ‎Hello‎) are not forwarded.

“PeerToPeer Boundary”

_cds_icon_option_activated.png: LLDP messages are not transmitted.

“Disable port”

_cds_icon_option_activated.png: Disables the Ethernet port.

Table 489: Watchdog

“Enable”

Note: Available for AC500 communication module only.

_cds_icon_option_activated: If the AC500 communication module firmware is not updated within the configured time (for example, after an exception error in the application), the module is reset. The connection is terminated and the slaves switch to their substitute values.

The default watchdog settings are defined in the device description.
