The data exchange via EtherNet/IP between ABB drives and an AC500 V3 PLC can be easily engineered using all compatible drives based on the ABB or ODVA communication profile.
Currently supported ABB drives are ACS380, ACS480, ACS580, ACS880 and DCS880.
The Automation Builder automatically generates the related PLC and drive configurations:
-
For implicit data exchange: tag names, descriptions and PDO type are configured. Further data can be added or modified before the configuration is directly written to the connected drive.
-
For explicit data exchange: once the data to exchange is defined the corresponding GVL with tags and descriptions as well as function blocks for updating the values are generated and can then be easily called within the application.
Configuration
Add the ABB drive based on the communication module and EtherNet/IP profile below the EtherNet/IP scanner node in the Automation Builder project tree. The following all compatible ABB drive variants are offered:

The configuration of the added ABB drive is done in the “Overview” and “Process data” editors.
