Function: Depending on the selected location in the device tree, the dialog provides a selection of the devices which can be inserted at this location. In addition, it contains the commands which are also available in the context menu: “Append Device”, “Insert Device”, “Plug Device”, “Update Device”.
Requirement: The devices are installed in the device repository on the local system.
When you open the dialog, it always shows the selection which is suitable for the selected object in the device tree until you click the “Close” button.

“Append device” |
CODESYS inserts the selected device below the selected object in the device tree. |
“Insert device” |
CODESYS inserts the selected device at the same level as the selected object below it in the device tree. |
“Plug device” |
CODESYS inserts the selected device in the selected slot. If the slot is already occupied, then the existing module is replaced by the new module. |
“Update device” |
CODESYS replaces the device selected in the device tree by the selected device. Note: Depending on the device, this may overwrite the existing configuration in the device editor with the default values. |
“String for a full text search” |
This field is editable when you click into it. As you type in a string, only those devices are displayed which include the string. The matched string is highlighted in yellow for these devices. |

The information provided by the device description file is displayed: device name, vendor, categories, version, order number, description, and a device-specific bitmap. |
